Carl Tribastone Memorial 5K Sponsors

Fellow Charlottesville Community Member,

Currently more than 2000 of our fellow citizens of Virginia are awaiting life-saving organ transplants. Three Virginians die each week waiting for an organ that doesn’t arrive in time. A single organ donor can save up to seven lives.

Carl Tribastone was 36 years old when he died from complications of a benign brain tumor and became an organ donor. His donations saved the lives of four people. As a tribute to him, his friends and family organized an annual 5k race to commemorate the anniversary of his death. All proceeds go to LifeNet Health, the nation’s largest nonprofit, full service organ procurement organization and tissue bank. LifeNet Health‘s donor family services also provide resources and support for donor families who mourn the loss of a loved one.

We are now planning the 6th annual Carl Tribastone Memorial 5k run/walk and are in the process of arranging sponsors. This year, it will be held on Saturday, August 21st in the Forest Lakes South subdivision. In 2009, the event had more than 430 participants and raised over $13,700. More than 50 organ recipients participated, and the run was featured in the newspaper, radio, and on 3 local television networks.
